What do you need?
- ELLE PURE GOLD DK (100 g) 3 (4; 5; 6; 7; 7) balls in Midnight (A) and 1 ball in Lily (C)
- 1 ball ELLE FAMILY KNIT DK (50 g) in complementary colour (B)
- 25 mm en 4 mm needles
- Stitch holder
Sizes
Fits 1–2(3–4;5–6;7–8;9–10;11–12) year olds
Tension
22 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm in stocking stitch with 4 mm needles
Pattern stitch
(Multiple of 3 plus 1, plus 1 edge stitch either side) 1st, 3rd, 9th and 11th row: k. 2nd, 4th, 8th, 10th and 12th row: p. 5th row: k2, *p2, k1, rep from * and end with k1. 6th row: p1, *k1, p2, rep from * and end with k1, p1. 7th row: k1, p1, *k2, p1, rep from * and end with k1. Rep 1st to 8th row.

Method
Back
With 3.25 mm needles and A cast on 72(78; 84; 90; 96; 102) sts. Work 10 rows in 2×2 rib as follows: 3 rows A, 2 rows C, 2 rows A, 2 rows C, 1 row A. With 4 mm needles start with pat and continue until back measures 35(40; 45; 50; 55; 60) cm, ending with WS row.
Shape shoulder
Cast off 12(13; 14; 15; 16; 18) sts at start of next 2 rows. 48(52; 56; 60; 64; 66) ste. Cast off 13(14; 15; 15; 17; 18) sts at start of next 2 rows. 22(24; 26; 30; 30; 30) sts. Cast off.
Front
Work as given for back until four patterns are completed, ending with 4th row. Work in pat and colours as follows: work pat rib in A, one st st portion in C, pat rib in A, st st portion in B, pat rib in A, st st portion in C, continue with A AT THE SAME TIME. When work measures 29(34; 39; 42; 47; 52) cm, end with WS row and divide for neck as follows: Next row: pat 31(33; 35; 38; 42; 45), turn, place rem 43(45; 49; 52; 54; 57) sts on stitch holder. Working only on these 31(33; 35; 38; 42; 45) sts continue as follows: Work 6(6; 6; 8; 8; 9) rows, dec 1 st at neck edge in every row. 25(27; 29; 30; 34; 36) sts. Continue without shaping until front measures 35(40; 45; 50; 55; 60) cm, end with WS row.
Shape shoulder
Next row: cast off 12(13; 14; 15; 16; 18) sts in pat, pat to end. 13(14; 15; 15; 17; 18) sts. Cast off. With RSF work on rem 43(45; 49; 52; 54; 57) sts, slip 12(12; 14; 14; 12; 12) sts on stitch holder, attach yarn to rem 31(33; 35; 38; 42; 45) sts and pat to end. Next row: pat. Work 6(6; 6; 8; 9; 9) rows, dec 1 st at neck in every row. 25(27; 29; 30; 33; 36) sts. Continue without shaping until front measures 35(40; 45; 50; 55; 60) cm, ending with RS row.
Shape other shoulder
Next row: cast off 12(13; 14; 15; 16; 18) sts in pat, pat to end. 13(14; 15; 15; 17; 18) sts. Next row: pat. Cast off.
Sleeves (both the same )
With 3.25 mm needles and A cast on 39(42; 42; 48; 52; 54) sts and work in 2×2 rib in colour sequence as for back. With 4 mm needles start with pat en inc 1 st on both sides of 5th and every following 6(7; 6; 6; 8; 7)th row to 57(52; 62; 64; 78; 84)sts, work inc st in pat.
For only 2nd, 3rd and 4th sizes
Inc 1 st on both sides of every following 8th row to (60; 66; 76) sts, work inc st in pat.
For all 6 sizes
Continue without shaping until sleeve measures 24(29; 33; 37; 41; 43) cm or length required, ending with WS row. Cast off.
Neck band
Join right shoulder seam. With RSF and 3.25 mm needles and A pick up and knit 18(18; 18; 24; 24; 23) sts evenly down left side of neck, 11(13; 13; 13; 13; 13) sts across front of neck, 18(18; 18; 24; 24; 23) sts evenly up right side of neck and 23(25; 25; 29; 29; 31) sts from stitch holder at back of neck. 70(74; 74; 90; 90; 90) sts. Work 16 rows in 2×2 rib. Cast off loosely in rib.
To make up
Join left shoulder seam. Fold sleeves lengthways in half, place fold on shoulder seam and sew into position for about 13(14; 15; 17; 18; 19) cm from top of shoulder. Join side and sleeve seams. Fold neck band in half to WS and sew loosely into position with slip stitches.
