Materials
- Colours of Grace Aran (50 g balls): 4 balls Lilac, 1 ball each Mint, Turquoise and Candy (available at www.yarninabarn.co.za of www.btrixdsigns.co.za)
- 4 mm crochet hook
- 3 buttons
- Wooden rod (length 28 cm and diameter 10 mm)
- Needle for sewing up

Length = 71 cm and width = 18 cm

Instructions
Squares (crochet 3) with Turquoise: Beg with 7 ch st, sl st in 1st ch st to form ring.
1st rnd: 3 ch st, 15 tr in ring, sl st at top of beg 3 ch st. C/off.
2nd rnd: With Candy: 3 ch st, 1 tr in same sl st, 1 ch st, (2 tr cl in next tr, 1 ch st) 15 times, sl st at top of beg 3 ch st. C/off.
3rd rnd: With Mint: Join with 3 ch st in 1 ch st sp, 2 tr cl in same 1 ch st sp, 2 ch st, 3 tr cl in next 1 ch st sp, 2 ch st, [(3 tr cl, 3 ch st, 3tr cl in next 1 ch st sp) 2 ch st, (3 tr cl in next 1 ch st sp, 2 ch st) 3 times] 3 times, (3 tr cl, 3 ch st, 3 tr cl in next 1 ch st sp, 2 ch st, 3 tr cl in next 1 ch sp, 2 ch st, sl st at top in 1st cl. C/off.
4th rnd: With Turquoise: Join with 3 ch st in next 2 ch st sp, 2 tr in same sp, 3 tr in next 2 ch st sp, [(3 tr, 3 ch st, 3 tr) in next 3 ch st sp, (3 tr in next 2 ch st sp) 4 times] 3 times, (3 tr, 3 ch st, 3 tr) in next 3 ch st sp, (3 tr in next 2 ch st sp) 2 times, sl st top of beg 3 ch st. C/off.
5th rnd: With Candy: Join with 1 ch st in previous sl st, 1 dc in each tr and (1 dc, 2 ch st, 1 dc) in corner 3 ch st, sl st in 1st ch st. C/off.
6th rnd: With Mint: Join with 3 ch st in previous sl st, 1 tr in each dc and (2 tr, 1 ch st, 2 tr) in corner 2 ch st. C/off.
Backing
With Lilac: start with 28 ch st.
1st row: 1 dc in 2nd ch st from crochet hook, 1 dc in each ch st to ende turn (= 27 dc).
2nd row: 1 ch st, 1 dc in each dc, turn. Rep row 2 111 times (= 112 rows). Do not cast off, continue with loops.
Loops
1 ch st, 1 dc in next 6 dc, turn. Rep row 14 times (= 15 rows). C/off.
Middle loop: Skip 4 dc, join yarn to next dc with 1 ch st, 1 dc in next 6 dc, turn. 1 ch st, 1 dc in next 6 dc, turn. Rep row 14 times. C/off.
Last loop: Skip 4 dc, join yarn to next dc with 1 ch st, 1 dc in next 6 dc, turn. 1 ch st, 1 dc in next 6 dc, turn. Rep row 14 times. C/off.

Bottom edge
With Lilac: Join in 1st ch st with 2 ch st, skip 2 ch st, [(3 tr, 3 ch st picot, 3 tr) in next ch st, skip 4 ch st] 4 times, (3 tr, 3 ch st picot, 3 tr) in next ch st, skip 2 ch st, 1 tr in last ch st. C/off.
Rod
With Lilac: Start with 42 ch st. 1 dc in 2nd ch st from crochet hook, 1 dc in each ch st to end. Rep row 6 times (= 7 rows). C/off but leave long enough strand of yarn for sewing up. Place rod in crochet work, fold it around the rod and join the seam and ends.
Finishing off
Thread in all loose threads. Sew the squares up as follows: leave 4 rows open at bottom and sew on a square (only sides and bottom). Skip 8 rows above the square and sew on 2nd square. Skip another 8 rows above square 2 and sew on block 3. Fold loops to front and sew on. Sew a button on each. Push rod through loops. Crochet a hanging cord of 70 ch st, fold back each end and sew it on 12th ch st from end to make a loop. Pull the loops over both ends of rod.
