Crochet covers for lanterns and hang them on your patio or in your garden

Materials (for 2 lanterns)
- Vinnis Colours Nikkim (50 g balls): 1 ball each Fern, Avocado, Purple Pink and Pink
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle for threading in ends
- 2 x instant coffee bottles (like Douwe Egberts)
- 128 cm wire
- Pliers

Method
With 3.5 mm hook and Fern, crochet 4 ch st, sl st in 1st ch st to form ring.
1st rnd: 3 ch st, 11 tr in ring, sl st in 3rd of beg-3 ch st = 12 tr.
2nd rnd: 3 ch st, 1 tr in same st, 2 tr in every tr to end, sl st in 3rd from beg-3 ch st = 24 tr.
3rd rnd: 3 ch st, *2 tr in next tr, 1 tr in next tr, rep from * to end, sl st in 3rd from beg-3 ch st = 36 tr.
4th rnd: 3 ch st, *2 tr in next tr, 1 tr in next 2 tr, rep from * to end, ending with 2 tr in next tr, 1 tr in last tr, sl st in 3rd of beg-3 ch st = 48 tr.
5th rnd: 2 ch st, *2 h tr in next tr, 1 h tr in next 3 tr, rep from * to end, ending with 2 h tr in next tr, 1 h tr in next 2 tr, sl st in 3rd of beg-3 ch st = 60 h tr.

To finish off
Work in the loose ends and pull the crocheted flower over the glass bottle.
Cut the wire with pliers in four equal pieces (2 pieces per bottle).
Use the pliers to fold over the two ends of each piece of wire.
Fold one piece of the wire around the neck of the bottle and hook the two bent ends together.
Tighten the wire if it is too loose. Hook the ends of the other piece of wire around the wire that is around the neck of the bottle so that it can hang.
Put a candle in the bottle and hang it up.
Tips
In place of a lantern it can be used as a hanging vase; a storage holder; a plant holder; leave the wire and fill the bottle with bath salts or sweets and replace the glass top.
