Method
The pattern is crocheted in halfmoon circles consisting of 3 different motifs: motif A with 19 d tr; motif B with 16 d tr; and motif C with 13 d tr. The pattern is crocheted in 7 strips that can be crocheted or sewn together. See diagram. Start with strips 1 and 2. The strips run from the front over the shoulder to the back. Start front with 9 ch st, sl st in 1st ch st to form ring.
1st rnd: 4 ch st, 18 d tr in ring, turn.
2nd rnd: 5 ch st, (1 d tr in next d tr, 1 ch st) 17 times, 1 d tr in 4 ch st, turn.
3rd rnd: 1 ch st, [(1 dc, 2 ch st, 1 dc) in 1 ch st-sp] 18 times, 5 ch st, sl st in 1st of 5 ch (at bottom of st you’ve just worked), 4 ch st, turn.
4th rnd: 12 d tr in the just completed 5 ch st-sp, 5 ch st, turn.
5th rnd: (1 d tr in next d tr, 1 ch st) 11 times, 1 d tr in 4 ch st, 1 ch st through the stem of the 1st crocheted half-cricle, turn.
6th rnd: 1 ch st, [(1 dc, 2 ch st, 1 dc) in 1 ch st-sp] 11 times, 5 ch st, sl st in bottom of st you’ve just worked on, 4 ch st, turn.
7th rnd: As 4th rnd.
8th rnd: (1 d tr in next d tr, 1 ch st) 11 times, 1 d tr in 4 ch st, skip 2 of the 2 ch st-sp of 1st half-circle, sl st through next 2 ch st-sp, turn.
9th rnd: As 6th rnd.
10th rnd: As 4th rnd.
11th rnd: (1 d tr in next d tr, 1 ch st) 11 times, 1 d tr in 4 ch st, skip 2 of the 2 ch st-sp of previous half-circle, sl st through next 2 ch st-sp, turn.
12th rnd: As 6th rnd.
Rep 10th-12th rnd 23 times, ending with 1 motif B. C\off.
Middle back strip
Start with a motif A at the bottom, crochet 12 motif Cs, end with motif B. Crochet the middle strip against the 2 completed strips, or sew them on. Crochet 2 more strips on to the first 2 strips (or sew them on) as follows: start with motif B at the front, 25 motif Cs and end with motif A. Crochet 2 underarm strips (crochet of sew on) as follows: start at bottom with motif A, 7 motif Cs and end with motif B. (Follow diagram.)
How to crochet motifs on to strips: Crochet 2 of each 2 ch st-sp as follows: 1 dc in the 1 ch st-sp, 1 ch st, 1 ch st through the 2 ch st-sp of the next half-moon , 1 dc back in 1 ch st-sp, 1 dc in next 2 ch st-sp, 1 ch st, 1 ch st, 1 ch st through next 2 ch st-sp of next half-moon, 1 dc back in 1 ch st-sp, complete halfmoon further. Strips and halfmoons can be crocheted on according to the size you’re working on.
