Nothing beats a slice of warm apple pie with a dollop of cream

Ingredients
250 ml (1 c) sugar
2 eggs
125 ml (½ c) full cream milk
45 ml (3 T) butter, melted
250 ml (1 c) cake flour
5 ml (1 t) baking powder
Pinch of salt
Pinch of ground cinnamon
385 g (1 tin) pie apples
SAUCE
250 ml (1 c) sugar
250 ml (1 c) cream
2.5 ml (½ t) vanilla essence

Instructions
Preheat oven to 180 ºC.
- Whip sugar and eggs. Add milk and butter. Whip again.
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon together. Stir into egg mixture.
- Grease 22 cm round ovenproof pie dish.
- Spoon dough into pie dish and arrange apple slices on top.
- Bake for 60 minutes till golden brown.
- Sauce Start sauce 20 minutes before baking time is over.
- Heat sugar and cream over medium heat. Stir frequently till sauce starts to bubble. Take off heat and add vanilla essence.
- Pour warm sauce over apple pie as soon as it is taken out of the oven.
- Serve lukewarm with whipped cream and decorate as you wish.
